How to make shakshuka in 10 minutes
Here, I will show you how to make Shakshuka in 10 minutes.
Basically, you make a thick tomato sauce and cook some eggs in it. So, if we make the sauce in advance, then it takes less than10 min to make Shakshuka in the morning.
You start by sautéing some vegetables (such as garlic, onion, fresh chili, paprika) in a skillet. add in tomatoes and some spices and then the mixture is simmered. Now, your sauce is ready. You can refrigerate it and then use it for several days.
Then when you want to make Shakshuka, heat the sauce and make little pockets in the sauce, and then crack eggs into the mixture. Cook the eggs until the whites are set. Done. That’s easy.

shakshuka in 10 minutes-TIPS
- Make your version of Shakshuka by adding almost anything you can think of (chopped eggplant, peppers, potatoes, spinach, etc.).
- You can also make this dish only with fresh tomatoes or canned tomatoes. I like to mix both as it improves the color and the taste. if you desired, finely chop the tomatoes without peeling them.
- You can use the sauce over several days for different dishes such as pasta, as a bread spread, or as Shakshuka.
- I like to serve it with a poached egg that has a runny yolk in the center. If you don’t like your egg yolks runny, simply cook it a bit longer so the yolks are firm.
- Garnish with some freshly chopped cilantro or any herb you like.
- Add your choice of cheese on top as a variation.
How to peel tomatoes?
- Cut a shallow X on the bottom of tomatoes.
- Place them into a bowl of boiling water for no more than a minute.
- Then place them into a bowl of cold water.
- Peel the skins off with your fingers.
- Place in a bowl and then crush them with a fork.
